Introduction
If you’re interviewing with a top tech company, you’ll likely face prompts like these:
Design a mobile app to help singles find roommates (matchmaking, trust systems, filters)
Design an elevator control system for a 1000-floor building (complex interaction + edge cases)
Design an ATM experience (safety, error recovery, visual guidance)
Design a task management tool for remote teams (collaboration + notification logic)
Redesign a checkout flow to reduce drop-off (conversion optimization)
Design onboarding for a new SaaS user (common in B2B design interviews)
Improve airport navigation for travelers (wayfinding, accessibility, transparency)
Design a mobile checkout or cancel button interaction (decision reversibility)
Design a medication reminder app for seniors (barrier-free + emotional design)
Design a feature for sharing or automating daily habits (hydration tracking, reward loops)
These aren’t just design prompts. They test your clarity, prioritization, communication, and user-centered thinking under pressure.
That’s why we built UXMock—to help you practice whiteboard interviews like the real thing. From receiving a timed prompt to defending your decisions, you’ll gain the structure and feedback you need to level up.
What Is UXMock?
UXMock is your personal AI-powered whiteboard interview simulator.
It helps UX and product designers practice the full interview loop—from hearing the prompt, asking questions, structuring your solution, sketching, and getting feedback—so you're always ready for the real thing.
Step-by-Step: How to Use UXMock for Daily Practice
Step 1: Choose Your Prompt
When you log into UXMock, you’ll land on the Interview screen.
Start by selecting a challenge prompt from our curated list—or paste in your own.
Try one of our popular built-in prompts, like:
“Designing a Beauty Subscription Box Experience”
You’re hired by an e-commerce brand to launch a customizable skincare and makeup box. Design the full experience—from onboarding to personalization and subscription management.
Want something role-specific?
📌 Use the JD-to-Prompt Generator to paste in a real job description and instantly turn it into a tailored prompt. Whether you're interviewing for a fintech product or an artist-focused platform, UXMock adapts the challenge to your goals.
Step 2: Enter Interview Mode
Once you’re ready, hit “Interview Mode” to begin your timed session (default: 45 minutes).
You lead the session—just like in a real whiteboard interview. Our AI responds to your thinking, answers your questions, and gently guides you when needed to keep the conversation productive and on track.
Need help mid-session? Turn on Whiteboard Guidance for step-by-step tips—perfect for those newer to whiteboard interviews.
After the session, you’ll get a full transcript so you can review what was said, reflect on your thinking, and spot opportunities to improve.
💡 Tip: Speak out loud! UXMock is built to mirror real interviews where explaining your thought process matters just as much as the solution.
Step 3: Use Guidance & Tips (Optional)

Feeling stuck? Tap the “Guidance & Tips” tab to get:
A breakdown of whiteboard frameworks (like 5W1H or JTBD)
Clarifying questions to ask during discovery
Pro tips for structuring your answer
This section is perfect for building good habits or refreshing your process.
Step 4: Sketch & Wireframe (Optional Upload)

After outlining your idea, you can upload your sketch or FigJam board for feedback.
Use this to show:
Layouts and flows
Information hierarchy
Visual thinking process
Use the Sketch & Wireframe Analysis tool to get AI-powered feedback on clarity, structure, and hierarchy.
Step 5: Submit & Get Feedback
Once the session ends, hit “Submit & Get Feedback.”
You’ll receive:
A numeric score
A written summary evaluation
Category breakdowns (e.g., Problem Understanding, Prioritization, Communication)
Actionable suggestions (e.g., “Ask about KPIs earlier,” “Clarify user personas”)
You’ll also get a full session transcript so you can trace each piece of feedback back to the actual conversation. This makes it easier to understand where you nailed it—and where to improve next time.
Step 6: Make It a Habit
Practicing once isn’t enough.
UXMock is built to support:
Daily 15-minute warmups
Weekly 45-min deep-dive mocks
Role-specific drills (fintech, e-commerce, B2B SaaS, etc.)
